American flag Capitol Police called to investigate swastika in GOP congressional office Washington, D.C.
Taylor said he “immediately” ordered a thorough investigation in conjunction with the Capitol Police, adding, “No further comment will be made until the investigation is complete.”
According to an office spokesperson, the flag was found inside Taylor’s office in the Cannon Building in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday afternoon. The spokesperson said Taylor believes it was the result of “foul play or sabotage.”
This revelation comes a day after Politico reported on an explosive Telegram group chat in which leaders of the Young Republicans group made racist remarks, mocked the Holocaust, and praised Adolf Hitler.
According to LinkedIn, Elia has been working as a legislative correspondent in Taylor’s office since January.
When contacted for comment, a US Capitol Police spokesperson immediately responded that the office was closed due to the shutdown and “will reopen upon receipt of funding from the federal government.”
