According to Sports News, Heat guard Terry Rozier was arrested Thursday morning at an Orlando hotel in connection with an FBI sports betting investigation.
According to a press release, FBI Director Kash Patel and the Eastern District of New York will hold a press conference Thursday morning to further discuss the case and “multiple arrests made in illegal sports betting and poker schemes,” including two indictments.
Rozier, 31, was previously under investigation for unusual betting activity during his tenure with the Hornets, specifically related to a March 2023 match.
However, the NBA found no violations.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass said earlier this year, “In March 2023, the NBA was notified of unusual betting activity related to Terry Rozier’s performance in a match between Charlotte and New Orleans.”
“The league conducted an investigation and found no violations of NBA rules. We are now aware of an investigation being conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, and we are cooperating with that investigation.”
The former Louisville star did not play in Miami’s season-opening loss to the Magic on Wednesday.
