Heat guard Terry Rozier was arrested in a separate but related gambling case.
Law enforcement sources told News that Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has been accused of running an illegal poker operation linked to the mafia.
In his fifth season as head coach, Billups was arrested in Oregon, where, according to sources, he is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
Billups coached the Trail Blazers in their season opener on Wednesday night, a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Billups was also a star player for the Detroit Pistons for most of his career, before retiring in 2014. During his 17 years in the NBA, he was a five-time All-Star and led the Pistons to the 2004 NBA title, where he was named Finals MVP.
He was the third overall pick in 1997 and finished his career with 15.2 points and 5.4 assists per game.
Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones were also charged in a separate but related illegal gambling case. Law enforcement sources said they were among six people charged Thursday with turning professional basketball into a criminal gambling business by using insider information to place illegal bets.
FBI Director Kash Patel will announce these charges along with other law enforcement officials during a press conference in New York City on Thursday.
Rozier is in his 11th year in the league and has scored 13.9 points per game in 665 games. He was a key contributor for the Boston Celtics in the 2016 playoffs.

His team opened the 2025 season in Orlando on Wednesday night, but Rozier missed the game due to a hamstring injury.
