Donald Trump didn’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Experts say he had ‘no chance’ at winning, Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado wins Nobel peace prize
Donald Trump has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and despite his frequent claims that he “deserves the award,” experts are not at all surprised that he did not receive it.

The Peace Prize was awarded to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless advocacy for democracy in Venezuela.
Peace Prize
The prize’s historian, Asle Sveen, said that Mr. Trump had “no chance of winning the Peace Prize.”
The US president has claimed to have ended seven wars since first taking office in 2017.
He said he deserves the prize because “no one has ever done it before,” but when asked about his chances earlier this week, he admitted that “maybe they will find a reason not to give me the award.”
Mr. Trump’s disrespect for international institutions,
According to many experts, Mr. Trump’s disrespect for international institutions, global concerns over climate change, and his repeated lobbying for the prize may have been some of the reasons for his failure to win.
Alfred Nobel’s will, the foundation of the prize, states that the award should be given to the person “who has done the most or the best to promote fraternity among nations.”
Simply put, according to Nina Greger, director of the Oslo-based Peace Research Institute, Mr. Trump did not do that.
Was Trump even considered?
The Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego
Yes, but Darren Qiu, dean of the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego, said the committee is unlikely to select him for several reasons.
“First and foremost, the review period is 2024, although the committee itself could choose anyone,” he told ABC News.
“And so, if the committee decides to award him this year for his activities, it certainly can.”
Nobel Peace Prize in 2009
Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, the first year of his presidency, and the committee praised his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”
Dr. Qi said Mr. Trump has many supporters who praise his record, especially with regard to Gaza.
“If you look at his domestic record and his other international record, he also has many detractors,” he said.
The committee issued an unusual statement saying it had made its decision on the Peace Prize on Monday (before the latest ceasefire was announced in Gaza).
I think it will be a message
“If he doesn’t win the award, I think it will be a message, ‘Look, try again next year after you’ve demonstrated more success in both of these areas.'”
Who nominated him?
Mr. Trump was nominated by several prominent figures in the US, as well as politicians from abroad.
Most recently, and perhaps most notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated the US President for the award.
