Falcons RB Bijan Robinson hailed as ‘best player in football’ as the Atlanta Falcons top the Buffalo Bills
Running back Bijan Robinson delivered the best performance of his career, handing Buffalo its second consecutive loss, helping the Atlanta Falcons beat Josh Allen and the Bills 24-14 on Monday Night Football.
Robinson rushed for a career-best 170 yards on 19 carries and scored a spectacular 81-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, giving the Falcons the lead.

This long run was the 23-year-old’s longest rushing touchdown to date, and he also amassed a career-best 238 yards from scrimmage that night—the most by a Falcons running back in a single game in franchise history, according to the NFL.
After watching his team improve its record to 3-2, Atlanta head coach Raheem Morris heaped praise on Robinson.
“He’s the best player in football. I’ve said that so many times, I can’t repeat it enough,” Morris told reporters. “You can always make your own choices, you can always go out on the field and decide who you want to vote for, but in my opinion, he’s the best player in football.”
The opposing team featured a player many consider one of the best players in the game right now: reigning MVP Josh Allen. However, the Bills quarterback was held in check by the Falcons’ stout defense at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where he threw 15 of 26 passes and passed for 180 yards, including two touchdowns and two picks.
The loss compounded an unexpected defeat to the New England Patriots in Week 5, which left the Bills 4-2 on the season before their bye week.
Allen told reporters, “They had a good plan. It looks like they came back from the bye week and had a lot planned for us. Again, I have to get better at understanding what they’re trying to do to us and make adjustments accordingly.”
Speaking of the Falcons, they took a 21-7 halftime lead thanks to a stellar offensive performance. According to ESPN, their 335 yards in the first half were the most yards any Falcons team had accumulated in that span since 2009.
Wide receiver Drake London had 10 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Penix Jr. had 20 of 32 catches for 250 yards and a touchdown.
The highlight of the game was Robinson’s rushing run in the second quarter, which broke through the Bills’ defense to extend the Falcons’ lead to 21-7 at halftime.
Buffalo couldn’t come back after that. Allen threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ray Davis early in the second half, but couldn’t capitalize when Greg Rousseau blocked Parker Romo’s field goal attempt early in the fourth quarter.
“Overall, (we) had chances, but they weren’t enough and we didn’t get the result we wanted,” head coach Sean McDermott told reporters. “We’ll work hard at it, we have to find a solution. It won’t be easy, but we have to find a solution and give it our all.”
In Monday’s second game, Jake Moody instantly achieved hero status for the Bears when he made a spectacular 38-yard field goal to help Chicago defeat the Washington Commanders 25-24.
Moody was playing his first game for the Bears since being released by the San Francisco 49ers last month, but he played brilliantly as time expired, leading Chicago to their third consecutive victory under first-year coach Ben Johnson.
“It feels amazing,” Moody told ESPN after being surrounded by his teammates at the end of the game. “To have so much support from all my teammates after the game—I hadn’t been here that long ago, but everyone embracing me and accepting me as one of their own—it was an amazing feeling.
“It’s always good to have a fresh start, and I always believed in myself and my teammates.”
The Commanders held a slim two-point lead late in the fourth quarter, but Jayden Daniels and JaCorey Croskey-Merritt fell victim to slippery conditions and fumbled the ball on third down with 3:07 remaining in the quarter, giving the Bears possession and a chance to advance down the field.
Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams did just that, allowing Moody—who was added to the game-day team after an injury to Cairo Santos—to make his fourth field goal in five attempts.
