GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — Jordan Alcivar scored on a first-half penalty kick to help Ecuador earn a 1-1 draw against Mexico on Tuesday in a practice match between the two teams for the 2026 World Cup.
Germany’s Bertramme scored in the third minute, but Alcivar equalized in the 20th.
Mexico, which will co-host the next World Cup with Canada and the United States, extended its winning streak to four matches.
Mexico lost 4-0 to Colombia last Saturday and hasn’t won since defeating an alternate American team in the Gold Cup final on July 6.
Mexico will try to break that streak in their match against Uruguay in November.
Ecuador, ranked second in South America after Argentina, drew 1-1 against the United States last Friday.
