Michigan vs usc USC proves it’s a playoff contender in Coliseum-reviving beat down of Michigan USA Newyorktimes
Don’t look now, Lincoln Riley’s team has just soundly defeated a Big Ten stalwart.
Don’t look now, a beloved USC team has ruthlessly made its way to the College Football Playoff.
Don’t… oh, go ahead and look. Please, look. These are your typical flop Trojans; you might not recognize them, but watch anyway, because it’s real, fun, and loud.

The noise that erupted in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night came not from Dodger Stadium, but from the Coliseum, a thrilling backdrop for USC’s 31-13 victory over 15th-ranked Michigan, a stage that has produced so many amazing matches.
Who are these fighters? Earning their first major Big Ten win in two seasons since joining the conference, the Trojans stole the show from the Wolverines, outscoring them 489-316, including 115 more yards rushing.
“Great, great win,” Riley said. “A tough, tough response from our football team. … I thought we attacked them… dominated the football game from all angles… a strong, tough performance.”
What was that noise? The Coliseum was as loud as it has been in years past, screaming with the power of John Robinson and the strength of Pete Carroll, as if those golden days were back, and it made a big difference.
“I think a lot of people would say it felt the same in the Coliseum,” Riley said. “It was an amazing atmosphere, the place was just on fire… You could feel the energy from our crowd… You could feel the energy.”
And, my God, who is this King Miller? He’s a third-string running back who pays to attend classes with his million-dollar teammates, a walk-on who stepped in after injuries to top running backs Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders floundered for 158 yards and a touchdown.
“King was huge, stepped up, made big plays,” Riley said, later adding, “And honestly, we didn’t have anyone else, so what would I have done?”
Overall, a surprisingly strong performance for a team that had lost to Illinois in the final 100s just two weeks earlier. In Riley’s troubled fourth season, with his reputation at stake, it was a testament to his strength, a message of change.
“It shows we’re a strong, physical program,” Riley said. “That’s what it says.
