New York News Mariners show off ‘complete team take 2-1 lead in ALDS
After a lengthy rain delay, the Seattle Mariners set the tone and never looked back in an 8-4 victory over the Tigers in Detroit. With that, the Mariners spoiled the Tigers’ return home and took a 2-1 lead in the ALDS. They’ll look to advance with a win in Game 4 on Wednesday.
the New York Yankees rallied
In the other series, the New York Yankees rallied back from an early five-run hole to stun the Toronto Blue Jays with eight unanswered runs in a 9-6 victory. With the win, New York forced Game 4 at home on Wednesday.
The New York Yankees aren’t finished yet. The Yankees rallied after yet another slow start to stun the Toronto Blue Jays 9-6 on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. It marked their first win in this ALDS and kept their postseason run alive after they dropped the first two games of this series. They now trail 2-1 heading into
The Blue Jays, after two extremely dominant outings in the first two games in Toronto, picked up right where they left off Tuesday, thanks largely to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He hit a two-run home run in the first inning to put the Blue Jays on the board immediately. That marked his third straight game with a homer.

the bottom of the frame
While the Yankees cut into that lead with a run in the bottom of the frame, the Blue Jays put up four in the third inning. Anthony Santander hit a two-RBI single, and Guerrero made it home safely on an Ernie Clement single with a wild, airborne dive into the plate.
That’s about when the Blue Jays’ offense shut down. The Yankees chipped away at the lead, making it 6-3 before Aaron Judge hit a three-run shot deep off the left-field foul pole in the fourth inning to suddenly tie the game. It was his first home run of this postseason and his 11th overall hit, which is the most by any player in the field.
The time the Blue Jays were able
Jazz Chisholm added a solo homer in the fifth inning, and had a perfect bat drop to go with it, to give the Yankees their first lead of the series. By the time the Blue Jays were able to put together a scoreless inning defensively, the Yankees had put up eight unanswered runs, and any momentum the Blue Jays had was long gone.
While it wasn’t a good showing for the Blue Jays after the first two-and-a-half innings and they’re likely facing a bullpen game Wednesday, there is some good news for them. They are still a single win away from reaching the ALCS for the first time since 2016, and they’ve got two games to get that done. The Yankees, even after their impressive rally, still have a lot of work to do. That’ll start with Game 4 on Wednesday
a win in Game 4 on Wednesday in Detroit or in Game 5 on Friday at home.
With the victory, the Mariners take a 2-1 series lead and re-seize the home-field advantage they yielded with a Game 1 loss in Seattle. The Mariners can clinch the best-of-five series with a win in Game 4 on Wednesday in Detroit or in Game 5 on Friday at home.
Tuesday’s victory was a complete team effort that sucked the life out of the Detroit crowd early. Seattle starter Logan Gilbert was on cruise control on the mound through six four-hit innings. Detroit mounted just one challenge off Gilbert and needed a bad relay on a would-be double-play ball to plate its first run on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning.
Once closer Andres Muñoz took the mound.
Outside of that, Gilbert was dominant. He struck out seven and walked none on 85 efficient pitches through six innings. Seattle’s bullpen kept the Tigers off the board from there until Caleb Ferguson yielded three runs without getting any outs in the ninth. Even so, the late Tigers rally fizzled once closer Andres Muñoz took the mound.
Seattle’s bats, meanwhile, put pressure on Detroit throughout the night. They chased starter Jack Flaherty after 3 1/3 innings and ended the fourth with a 4-0 lead. Victor Robles got the party started in the third with a leadoff double and came around to score on a J.P. Crawford single and error by Detroit.
