MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) — Julian Sein threw two of his four touchdown passes to Cornell Tate, and No. 1 Ohio State cruised to a 34-0 win over Wisconsin on Saturday.
Ohio State (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) has averaged a 25.8-point margin over its 11-game winning streak, which began with four College Football Playoff victories during its national title run last season. The Buckeyes have won their first seven games this season by an average of 30.6 points.
Wisconsin (2-5, 0-4) has suffered two consecutive shutout losses for the first time since 1977, when the Badgers lost 42-0 to Ohio State and 22-0 to Purdue in consecutive weeks. Wisconsin also lost 37-0 at home to Iowa.
The Badgers have lost their last five games by an average of 25.2 points and their last 10 against Power Four conference teams.
Sein threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Tate on Ohio State’s first drive and a 10-yard score with four seconds remaining in the opening period. Both touchdowns came on third-down situations.
Sein also threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Will Kacmarek late in the third quarter and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Inniss in the fourth quarter.
Ohio State took the lead early in the first quarter with this touchdown, taking a 17-0 lead.
Wisconsin got the ball first, and when it opted not to take it on fourth-and-1 from its own 34, some people booed. Ohio State started its first drive from its own 11-yard line thanks to a friendly roll on Sean West’s 55-yard punt.
Sein immediately completed 8 of 8 passes on the next possession, culminating in Tate catching a 34-yard pass over the middle on third-and-11, losing his helmet while coming down.
Wisconsin’s next series ended with a pass thrown by Hunter Simmons that bounced off running back Cade Yacameli and was intercepted by Sonny Stiles. This turnover gave Ohio State the ball at the Wisconsin 43, paving the way for Jaden Fielding’s 38-yard field goal.
Sein then found Tate again in the left corner of the end zone on third-and-4. By the end of the first period, Sein had completed 14 of 15 passes for 169 yards.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes are allowing just 5.9 points per game, the lowest average for any Bowl Subdivision team. They had no trouble stopping a Wisconsin team that scored just 13.3 points per game, the lowest average for any Power Four program.
Wisconsin: The Badgers were outscored 17-0 in the first quarter for the second consecutive week, giving them no chance to compete. A tough schedule will make it difficult for them to turn things around. This visit to the Buckeyes begins a four-game streak in which Wisconsin will play three teams ranked sixth or higher: Ohio State, sixth-ranked Oregon, and third-ranked Indiana. Both Oregon and Indiana games will be on the road.
