This process is considered extremely dangerous, as explosive particles can become airborne and are extremely sensitive to heat, shock, friction, and electrostatic discharge. For this reason, employees working in so-called melt-pour facilities typically wear respirators to keep such particles out of their airways, as well as protective clothing made from natural fibers that will not generate static electricity.
Workers in these areas are also generally prohibited from carrying personal electronic devices, for fear that cameras or mobile phones could inadvertently ignite or ignite explosive particles in the air, causing a massive explosion of the contents.
Governments and commercial industries
Accurate Energetic Systems’ website states that the company also manufactures several other types of explosives that are in high demand by governments and commercial industries. According to the latest records available online, the company appears to have violated the Occupational Safety and Health Administration at least once in 2019, but it was unclear whether any violations related to the way explosives were stored. The case was closed in 2023, and additional details were not available.
